River Jewel Returns

From the bow of the historic paddle-wheel vessel, the Jean Mary, visitors can now get a sense of river journeys circa 1900’s America in stylish, meticulously restored, surroundings. We learned of this project from an OLM customer who has been dedicated to the restoration project since 2012!

The boat was a gift from stage and screen star Debby Reynolds, to the Apalachicola Maritime Museum. To date the restoration project has consumed more than 80,000 man hours over the 2-year project span. Metal work on the project has included newly constructed walkways and a new hull. When complete, visitors will be able to cruise aboard the ship through the Appalachia Bay and river system. Of course the updated experience will include state-of-the art electronics communications and gourmet dining!

While we’re happy for the success of the team at Apalachicola Maritime Museum, we’ll miss working with the craftsman on the project. And of course, we’re proud to be a metal supplier for the project, and a small part of helping to get this beautiful vessel back into service for many years to come!
